A private creative retreat for groups who already belong together.
Calder House is a small, invitation-based creative retreat nestled in a quiet valley in the Catskill Mountains, just above the hamlet of Bovina. It’s a place where nature and art meet in easy harmony—where meals are shared slowly, creativity unfolds naturally, and time settles into a gentler rhythm.
The Promise
Calder House is not a retreat where you rush through a packed schedule. Days unfold slowly, with gentle creative structure and plenty of free time to rest, wander, and make at your own rhythm.
No experience required
No judgment or pressure
Private groups only (6–10 guests)
What Makes Calder House Different
Not a workshop. Not a resort.
A gathering:
Hosted in a real home, not a venue
Shared meals prepared with care by local chefs
Optional creative sessions balanced with open time
Studio, porch, fields, and woods—nature as collaborator
One private group per stay, no strangers
But I Can’t Draw
But I Can’t Draw is Calder House’s signature creative experience—a no-pressure way to gather, explore, and enjoy the simple joy of making art together.
There is no focus on talent or results. Just curiosity, play, and the pleasure of creating alongside people you already trust.
The House
Calder House is designed for shared living and quiet comfort. A spacious chef’s kitchen and dining great room anchor the home, with sun-filled spaces for resting or creating, a wraparound porch for slow mornings and long evenings, and comfortable bedrooms for up to ten guests.
The house feels lived-in, warm, and human—because it is.
Who’s It For?
Calder House is for small groups of friends, family members, or collaborators who already share a connection and want to spend a few days together in a slower, more meaningful way.
It is not a drop-in retreat for individuals or a place to meet strangers.
The Invitation
Calder House retreats are hosted by a connector—someone who gathers their people and brings them into the house.
If you have a group in mind and feel this might be a fit, I’d love to start a conversation.
